That’s the title of my next book. I know, I still have to finish the one I’m working on, but in light of recent events in Syria and Ukraine, it seems some radical punk (like me) needs to sit down and write directions on operating a successful coup. Of course the biggest question is should a coup take place? What warrants a revolution?
According to some sites, the US is on the brink of Revolution. For example, a blog I follow (Looking For Reasoning To A Complicated World) posted this list recently (in an effort at brevity, I picked a few of them that I had an immediate response to):
…[T]here are now control freaks that inspect the lunches of preschool students in certain areas of the country in order to make sure that they contain the “right” foods….
A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because the school told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.
The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the person who was inspecting all lunch boxes in the More at Four classroom that day.
(I note that this North Carolina school is nearly 1/2 black and was quite run down just a few years ago though they are making inroads into being a good/better school. I checked various sites, including the Carolina Journal, Examiner.com. It happened two years ago, and I don’t find evidence that it is happening any more. The school apparently was cited as being “overzealous” and the school has apologized.)
#2 Nazi officials often used their positions of power to force others to do dehumanizing things.
This is exactly what the TSA is doing today. … The following comes from a recent Wired article….
TSA agents in Dallas singled out female passengers to undergo screening in a body scanner, according to complaints filed by several women who said they felt the screeners intentionally targeted them to view their bodies.
(I looked into this one as well, and according to policymic.com, on April 3, 2013 the First Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals heard an appeal for a lawsuit against the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) filed by two Harvard law students in 2010 claiming that their Fourth Amendment rights were violated by “nude body scanners” and “enhanced pat-downs.”)
#3 In Nazi Germany, even women and children were treated like dehumanized cattle.
(I don’t need to even address this one, it’s pretty much a known fact.)
#4 In Nazi Germany, authorities could stop you and search you at any time and for any reason.
(Case in point: New York’s Stop and Frisk law, which unfairly targets blacks and other people of color.)
#6 Under Hitler, taxes were raised dramatically in order to pay for all of these social programs.
(I’ll agree this is happening here. Liberals blame the Conservatives and vice versa. The truth is probably somewhere in between.)
#9 In Nazi Germany, government regulation of business got wildly out of control.
If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.
(In the US the corporations own the government and therefore it is beneficial to them to squeeze out the ‘little guys’.)
#11 In Nazi Germany, the health care system was taken over by the government.
(Affordable Health Care Act: need I say more? I really disagree with the way this law is written. It’s cheaper to pay the penalty for not getting yourself insured. Yes, we are really being punished if we don’t sign up. I know. It makes no sense to me either.)
#12 Under Adolf Hitler, abortion was made “safe and legal” in Germany.
[Planned Parenthood] clinics are often located in the “poor” part of town, and a staggering 72 percent of Planned Parenthood’s “customers” have incomes that are either equal to or beneath 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
(I disagree that “abortion clinics” are shameful places. If you do away with the ability of a woman to have a legal, safe abortion, she is forced (yes she has no other choice) to go to illegal and unsafe means to end an unwanted pregnancy. Planned Parenthood clinics are in predominantly located in the poorer neighborhoods as poor people have no insurance, and therefore cannot afford birth control or another child. Funds for these clinics are continually cut, which then prevents the dispensing of birth control to those who want and need it.
Extra Note: This is NOT a matter of “when does life begin” It is mandating what a woman can do with her own body. (This is a whole separate issue, so I won’t get into that debate now.)
#14 In Nazi Germany, education was nationalized and God was kicked out of the schools.
Unfortunately, the exact same thing is happening to U.S. public schools.
(To be clear, education was always paid for by taxes and therefore a ‘governmental’ institution, though not run directly by the White House. In addition, God was NEVER in public schools (at least it was never supposed to be) in public schools. It has always been clear in the Constitution that Church and State stay separate. In the US we are having “Creationists” pushing science out of the schools. You want to teach your kids about God, send them to church, not to school. This could not be any worse for the US as we try to complete on a global scale.)
#15 Under Adolf Hitler, God was mocked and religion was pushed out of every corner of public life.
For many more examples of this phenomenon, please see this article: “18 Examples Of How Christians Are Being Specifically Targeted By Big Brother“.
(I won’t even comment on this. This may very well happen in over zealous communities but is not happening on a national scale (unless you heard it from Fox News), but I have not fully researched this.)
#16 Adolf Hitler fully embraced the theory of evolution, and Darwinism provided the intellectual foundation for much of Nazism.
At a Nazi Party rally in Nuremberg in 1933, Hitler declared that “higher race subjects to itself a lower race . . .a right which we see in nature and which can be regarded as the sole conceivable right“.
Hitler was obsessed with the “survival of the fittest” and he took this theory to its logical extremes.
(This is not what is happening here. Hitler was psychotically fixated on “survival of the fittest”. The theory that Darwin propounded has been proven to be true of animals in the wild, and early hominids. It does not apply to humans today.)
#20 Once the Nazis took power, they rapidly implemented gun control legislation and later on they took all of the guns away from the populace.
Last year, more than 10 million guns were sold in the United States, but gun control legislation continues to become even more strict, and it is only a matter of time before the federal government tries to disarm the U.S. population completely.
(Again I disagree, the government does not want all privately held weapons. Us ‘radical liberals’ just want to try to keep guns out of the hands of children and the unstable. I am in the middle on this one. I believe we need more background checks and a longer waiting periods for gun purchases. I understand where the Gun ‘enthusiasts’ are coming from in that they want to be armed should we need to overthrow our government. Which is apparently where the US is headed.)
That is just of few of the many issues Sean has been researching. I have not done the extensive research he has, I just don’t have as much time. But these are serious issues facing the US and they are not being resolved. Just as in a marriage, if you keep arguing about the same thing all the time, you are not moving forward, but are stuck in an angry rut. The Whitehouse, Senate and Congress do not seem to be able to and have not been able to get it together since the Clinton years. Clinton got shit done. But we put a C student in the Whitehouse for 8 years and then an ineffective (being generous here) president, it’s no wonder the ‘kids’ have run amok.
A lot of what’s going on reminds me of what I know about the “McCarthy years” of the early Cold War. In those days if you didn’t like your neighbor all you had to do was report he was a ‘communist’ and the government came a knockin’. This is not how America should operate, and luckily McCarthy did not last too long, though long enough to destroy many lives.
I need to research the end of McCarthyism: how and why it ended before I can finish this. It might help me figure out the right way to go about the next revolution. Stay tuned for Part 2.
